Following a career as a Respiratory Therapist at Harborview Medicial Center in Seattle, Washington, Jim Blair graduated from the Northwest Institute of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NIAOM) in 1984. He went on to complete an internship at the First Hospital in Chongqing, Sichuan, People’s Republic of China. Jim subsequently became a core faculty member and Faculty Chair at NIAOM.
A leader in the professional community, he served as president of the Acupuncture Association of Washington (AAW) in 1985, and was the Northwest Regional Coordinator for the American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (AAAOM). Jim was a founding member of the Coalition of Concerned Acupuncturists (COCA) and a founding board member of the Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Alliance (AOMA) where he served as president from 1998-2001.
Jim is currently the Director of Clinical Services for Seattle Acupuncture Associates, maintaining busy acupuncture clinics in downtown Seattle and on the eastside in Kirkland and Redmond. He has lectured, written and published on acupuncture in the clinical setting. His specialty is the use of acupuncture in the rehabilitation of neuromusculoskeletal disorders.
