Angie Hughes L.Ac.

Angie Hughes has been practicing acupuncture for over 20 years. She originally studied acupuncture at the London School of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine in the UK, graduating in 1989, and came to Seattle in 1997 to join the faculty of the Northwest Institute of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Before studying acupuncture, she worked for 7 years in a psychiatric hospital in a rehabilitation program. During her many years working in the health industry, she has had the opportunity to work with many different populations but has mainly specialized in the treatment of the elderly and in hospice.

Angie worked for 5 years at a needle exchange in London and is a certified and experienced practitioner in the field of chemical dependency. Her deepest interest is in the treatment of the underlying emotional root of disease. This brings together her experience both in mental and emotional health and the treatment of physical pain. She is a fanatical student of the enneagram and has a deep interest in 5 element theory. She currently teaches for Bastyr University and is the co-owner of the Community Acupuncture Project of Columbia City in South Seattle.
